Application Information

After the application account is set up, please select "Richmond" or "Roanoke" for Location from the drop down menu. Then select the “Professional MBA Application” from the drop down menu. You may submit the application before all your supporting documents are completed if you need to meet a deadline. If you submit the application with your resume and your $75 application fee, we can communicate with you about further details.

For the online application, you will need to scan in a copy of your official transcript. If you are admitted into the program and enroll, you will need to provide two sets of official transcripts from all institutions where you received a degree or took graduate-level classes. You should obtain these documents in sealed envelopes from the institutions you attended.

If you have attended Virginia Tech, then we can pull your transcripts, and there is no need for you to submit the transcripts to us.

International Transcripts: All application materials, including transcripts, must be translated in English. If your instruction was in English, your transcript must note this; otherwise you will need to take the TOEFL exam.

The graduate school of Virginia Tech requires a 3.0 or higher in the last 60 credit hours of your undergraduate coursework. If you have a master’s degree, we will review that GPA as well. If you have less than a 3.0, options are available at the department’s discretion.

We encourage you to take your test no later than June 15. Applicants should prepare for their exam for a minimum of two months to ensure a strong score. For more information on the GMAT exam and testing locations, visit www.mba.com. For more information on the GRE, please visit www.takethegre.com

Within the application, you will have a space to designate the name and email of the two people you would like to serve as your recommenders. The PMBA admissions team prefers professional contacts over academic contacts. Once you submit your application and pay the fee, your recommenders will be electronically notified on the steps they must complete on your behalf. Please note that the notification emails are often blocked by Spam filters.

During the online application process, essays will be uploaded in one document. Please include your name with your essays.

Applicants must submit a $75 application fee when submitting their application. Applications will be processed after the fee has been received.

All qualified applicants will be contacted to schedule an evaluative interview. Interviews will be made available at a time convenient for you. Interviews can be conducted in-person on select dates (Blacksburg, Roanoke, or Richmond locations), or online by webcam (Skype).

Admitted students will be required to pay a non-refundable $500 seat deposit. This $500 will reserve that student’s seat in the entering class and will be applied toward fall semester tuition and fees. Information about the deposit and payment due date will be included with the acceptance letter.
